The opening of Marit Westerhuis’ post-apocalyptic installation MEGALITH at the Groninger Museum included an unannounced protest action by Fossil Free Culture NL adressing the fossil fueled sponsorships of the museum. Maia Padura talks to the artist and museum director Andreas Blühm about the protest and the exhibition. Will it bring a change of museum policy?

Before you are able pinpoint why a shape in Janek Simon’s Meta Folklore feels familiar to you – maybe it resembles a statue you once saw in a museum or a toy you used to own – it shapeshifts into something else, denying you the comfort and nostalgia that comes with recognisability.

In the run-up to this year's Documenta Fifteen, Hamja Ahsan reflects on his stay in the Netherlands and his residency at the Jan Van Eyck Academie (2020-21). For the yearly Open Studios, Ahsan transformed his studio to a public prayer room. At Documenta he will also open a public space, one in which the prayer mats are replaced by a deep fryer.
